Protest! A cry for freedom
An exhibition from the Sir George Grey Special Collections
Protest! A cry for freedom looks at the reasons why people protest and the ways in which they do this.
The exhibition begins with Martin Luther’s protests against the Catholic church in the 16th Century (from which the word Protestant comes), and moves through to 20th Century environmental, land, gender and racial protest.
Included in the exhibition is one of the water-stained logbooks of the 'Rainbow Warrior', and many 20th Century protest posters.
