Borrowing information

Find out more about loan periods and renewals on items borrowed from Auckland Libraries.

Loan periods

Auckland Libraries offers both free and rental items to borrow for specific loan periods. Receipts issued from self-check units and issues desks list your borrowed items and the dates they are due for return.

Avoid paying charges

Provide the library with your email address and we will automatically send an email reminder notice three days before your items are due. You have the choice to return or renew your borrowed items on or before the due date to avoid fees.

You can provide us with your email address by logging into My Info and clicking Modify Personal Information.

Renewals

  • Renew titles online through My Info or contact your local library
  • Items can be renewed once only
  • Items are renewed for the same period as the original loan
  • Rental items incur the same initial rental charge.
  • Items cannot be renewed if they are on hold for somebody else
  • Magazines and downloadable media (eBooks and eAudiobooks) cannot be renewed

  •

Overdue charges

If an item is returned after the due date, a daily overdue charge may apply. There are no fees on children’s and teens’ overdue items except for rental collections. However, there are overdue fees on adult items. See the fees and charges table.

Payment of fees and charges

You can pay fees and charges at the issues desk of any library. You can also pay online using a credit card. To pay online, login to My Info and select Pay fines and charges. This button will only appear if you have charges on your account. You will receive confirmation of payment once your transaction is complete.

Lost or damaged items

We ask you to take good care of any items you borrow. If you lose or damage any library items, please let us know as soon as possible. A replacement charge will be made which may include an administration fee.
