Charges for services relating to regional heritage collections
A new system of standardised charges for regional heritage collections services has been introduced. These charges apply to the main heritage collections at the following Auckland Libraries:
- Sir George Grey Special Collections, Auckland Central City Library (Central)
- Central Auckland Research Centre, Auckland Central City Library (Central)
- West Auckland Research Centre, Henderson Library (West)
- South Auckland Research Centre, Manukau Library & Research Centre (South)
- North Auckland Research Centre, Takapuna Library (North)
Reference interview / research query / scoping
The first 30mins are free but thereafter is charged at $20 per 30mins for in-depth research (inc. whakapapa & family history) by librarian on behalf of customer. Fees exclude any photocopying or printing charges. Note this service is distinct from ‘Book a Librarian’ (a free 30mins one on one research session with a librarian)
The retrieval and supply of newspaper including community newspapers articles, is free for requests that are processed in 30mins but thereafter is charged at $20 per 30mins. Requests for multiple articles are also charged at the same rate. Supply formats include: hard copies (cost inc. p&p) or digital copies.
Photographic reproduction: Digital images / photograph files
Image files are available from all relevant websites and many are downloadable for free. Some copyright restrictions may apply. High resolution images are also available and fees apply (see below). Websites concerned include: Heritage Images Online, Local History Online, Manukau’s Journey, Footprints.
Charges for the provision of high resolution TIFF/JPEG files are as follows: $15 per image plus cost of the supply of image(s) on disc/ USB =$8.
Reproduction fees
No charge but Auckland Libraries reserves the right to charge $100 per image for commercial use. An acknowledgement is appreciated when library images are used.
Photographic reproduction: Hard copy photographs / prints
For b/w or colour prints, the charges are as follows: 4x6 inches = $7, 5x7 = $9, 6x8 = $13, 8x10 =$20, 10x12 = $29, 10x15 = $39.
On site photography using customer's own camera
Allowed with no charge. Guidance will be given to customer regarding photographing collection items. For example, the use of flash may be prohibited.
In-house professional photography
Applies to Sir George Grey Special Collections only. $15 per image plus the cost of the supply of image(s) on disc / USB =$8.
