Auckland Libraries is proud to announce that the Auckland City Council History Index, otherwise known as the Bush Index, is available to view online for the first time.
The index is compiled from a combination of Auckland City Council minutes and NZ Herald and Auckland Star reports, all dating from between 1871 to the late-1960s. It includes thousands of references to local government topics and processes and council activity, making it an invaluable historical resource.
This unique collection is named after Dr. Graham W.A. Bush, the author of two histories of the Auckland City Council: Decently and in order (1971) and Advance in order (1991). You can now explore the online version of the index at the locations below:
