On Thursday 2 August, join Auckland Libraries at the Film Archive on K Road, where we'll be exhibiting a selection of our zines as part of Auckland Zinefest.
The event marks the first anniversary of our 600-strong zines collection arriving at Central City library. Our zines are located on the ground floor of Central City Library, and are available to be thumbed through at any time.
A zine (taken from ‘fanzine’ or ‘magazine’; pronounced ‘zeen’) is typically a small, self-published print publication. Zines come in various shapes and sizes, and can contain highly creative, colourful and eye-opening content. They can cover everything from social commentary to the author's own perspective on a niche topic.
Our exhibition of zines will be part of the First Thursdays programme, a community-driven collaboration of artisans and art lovers. On the first Thursday of four months a year, K Road comes alive with visual artists, performance artists, photographers, musicians, DJs, and more.
Hope to see you there!
