Auckland Council Libraries: Picture books starring people of colour

Picture books starring people of colour

When Ezra Jack Keats wrote and illustrated The snowy day, he illustrated it with a Black child. It was a ground-breaking decision: young Peter was one of the first non-stereotypical depictions of a Black child in American picture book publishing. This selection of books all continue this tradition. They are, usually, not about race, just people being people.
