Auckland Libraries: Join the library: adults

Join the library: adults

Hono ki te whare pukapuka: taipakeke

You can get a free adult membership if you are over 18 and living in Auckland, or pay rates on a property in Auckland.

It takes just three easy steps to join the library.

  1. Fill out the online registration form ('Join now' below).
  2. At any of our libraries, show us a personal identification (Drivers Licence, Passport, Credit Card, 18+ card, Kiwi Access card or Community Services card) and a bill or statement as proof of address.
  3. Get a library card.

Tip

If you have no proof of address, we can give you a temporary starter membership. This membership allows you to borrow a limit of two items at a time.

If you are physically unable to visit a library and have no one to get items for you, you can use our Homebound delivery service. Email us to enquire.

Read the Auckland Libraries membership terms and conditions.

Want to get a library card for your child?

You can use the same registration form for your child. See the four easy steps for library membership for under 18s.

Lost your library card?

If you've lost your card, visit one of our libraries with an ID and we will give you a replacement card for $2. You do not need to fill in the online registration form again.

If you haven’t used the library in a while and you’re not sure whether your card still works, call us on 09 377 0209 or visit your local library.
