Auckland Libraries: Wiki edit-a-thon

Fashion, Art + Feminism Wiki edit-a-thon

Saturday 24 March 10.30am to 3.30pm Free

Wikipedia's gender trouble is well-documented. Content is skewed by the lack of female participation. This represents an alarming absence in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

Let's change that. Join the New Zealand Fashion Museum  at Central City Library, on Saturday 24 March from 10.30am to 3.30pm for an all-day communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects relating to fashion, gender, art and feminism.

Tutorials will be provided for the beginner Wikipedian, along with reference materials and refreshments. Bring your laptop. For the editing-averse, we urge you to stop by to show your support.

The library team will be offering a behind-the-scenes tour of our research facilities and a look at some treasures from the archives.

This event is open to people of all gender identities and expressions to participate, particularly transgender and cisgender women.

Please create a Wikipedia account  before the event and take a moment to familiarise yourself with the Safe Space policy .

This event is held in association with the international Art + Feminism  campaign and generously support by the Wikimedia Foundation and the Central City Library.
