Auckland Libraries: Digging deeper - SOLD OUT

The Hidden Web with Cyndi Ingle - SOLD OUT

Wednesday 7 August 12pm to 1pm Free

Our HeritageTalk programme welcomes world-reknowned genealogist Cyndi Ingle, visiting us from the US to be a keynote speaker at the Auckland Family History Expo 9-11 August. Come and hear her tell us about how to dig deeper into the Hidden Web.

When Google and traditional search engines don't return useful information, don't stop there. We will explore resources that are invisible to Google and hidden deep within web sites and proprietary databases. The "hidden web" lies buried within the collections of commercial web sites, libraries, archives, and museums. We will also talk about the importance of indexes that deep-link into web sites online, thus uncovering hidden gems of information that may not be found easily through a search engine query.

US genealogist Cyndi Ingle is one of the keynote speakers at the Auckland Family History Expo. Cyndi Ingle is the creator and innovator behind the award-winning and globally recognized , a free categorised list of more than 336,000 links for genealogical research. Cyndi, a genealogist for more than 39 years, has expertise in using technology for genealogy. Her many years active in genealogy has also resulted in specialities for research in the United States, and for bringing together traditional methodology with organisation, computers, software, and the Internet. Cyndi is the recipient of the “2018 Society of Genealogists Prince Michael of Kent Award,” the “2016 National Genealogical Society President's Citation,” and many other awards and honours. She has served in several capacities for genealogical organisations, she is an internationally-known guest lecturer, and has authored numerous articles and three books.
