Auckland Libraries: Master of folk music

Master of folk music

Thursday 19 November 12pm to 1pm Free

The Kotuku Quintet present Dvorak - the Master of Czech Folk music in this Thursday Heritage Concert.

Kontuku Quintet

Kotuku Quintet: Simon Ansell (violin), John Seagar (violin) Judith Gust (viola), Sally-Anne Brown (cello), Louise Webster (piano)

The well-loved Kotuku Quintet return to the stage with Dvorak’s dramatic Quintet for piano and strings in A Major, op. 81. This popular work shows a composer at the height of his creative powers successfully fusing Czech Nationalism with the Austro-German tradition.

One of the finest works in the piano quintet genre, alongside the quintets of Schumann, Brahms and Shostakovich, this will stir your soul.
