Auckland Libraries: Archaeology Week

Archaeology Week at Auckland Council

Wednesday 1 May 12pm to 1pm Free

A day in the life of an Auckland Council Archaeologist: with a panel of Council archaeologists for Archaeology Week.

Photo of green historic artefact
A rare historic artefact found 1.5 metres below ground beneath the Chief Post Office. It bears the name Pochajee Framjee & Co - a company of shopkeepers and wine merchants in Bombay, India in 1842.

Archaeologists in Auckland Council's Heritage Unit work hard to protect and preserve Tāmaki Makaurau's heritage. While the work they do achieves good heritage outcomes for Tāmaki Makaurau, it is also extremely varied.

Join this panel discussion, as part of the New Zealand Archaeological Association's Archaeology Week, to learn more about the work they do.

About HeritageTalks

Are you interested in family and local history; the historical stories of New Zealand, the Pacific, and beyond?

Then why not come along to one of our HeritageTalks - Waha pū-taonga and hear more about both our personal and our shared heritage? Experts in specialised fields deliver these talks and provide insight into our histories.

HeritageTalks take place at least fortnightly, in the Whare Wānanga, Level 2, Central City Library unless otherwise stated. Booking is recommended although not essential.
