Hawaii: volcanoes talk

Saturday 26 January 2pm to 3pm Free

The Island of Hawaii is one of the few places in the world where visitors can come face to face with an active volcano - a truly unforgettable experience. Come along to the latest talk from our regular speaker, Birgit Aikman, as she takes us on a journey.

Volcano erupting.
Hawaii has five active volcanoes including one of the most active volcanoes on earth, Kilauea, which has been erupting since 1983 and most recently made the news headlines in May 2018, when the latest eruption caused devastation to the local area. Why are there so many volcanoes in the middle of the ocean? What influence do they have on the life of the people here? How do people live on such a volatile island? Come along to the latest talk from our regular speaker Birgit Aikman as she takes us on a journey to this magical and enthralling place!
