Auckland Libraries: Shakespeare aloud

Shakespeare aloud

Rūrūtao ā-Waha

Every second Thursday 7pm to 8pm Free

We meet once a fortnight at Highland Park Library to share the joy of reading every play that Shakespeare wrote, in chronological order.

Portrait of shakespeare

Come along to experience the humour, the intensity, and the joy of Shakespeare that keeps his words alive 400 years after they were written.

We sit in a circle and read the parts round-robin, working our way through every play in chronological order. This is not a performance, merely a group of Shakespeare enthusiasts who want to experience Shakespeare out loud in a relaxed setting, stumbling over words and laughing along the way. You're welcome to read along silently too! There's no need to commit every fortnight but there is a great deal of satisfaction and fun to be had when you finish each play.

Bring your own copy or tablet. We have a few spare copies as well.
