Auckland Libraries: Human evolution

The diversity of humans

Saturday 24 August 1pm to 2pm Free

A story of adaptation and transformation: As a single species, we have evolved through many forms and become adapted to all climates and environments. Hear how this happened and how differently the same people live today.

Human species walking.

The human species has evolved over several millions of years through various 'prototypes' to today's homo sapiens. Migrating out of Africa, homo sapiens started to develop different biological features, influenced by the climate in which they settled and genetic evolution. Those also led to a cultural evolution out of which evolved the complex and diverse societies we see across the world today. Come along and join lecturer and tour leader Birgit Aikman as she discusses this fascinating human journey.
