Auckland Libraries: Let's play in the city

Let's play the city!

Monday 14 October 11am to 4pm Free

Join the University of Auckland's Creative Arts and Industries for an exploration of Placemaking - the art and science of re-imagining the space around you in new and exciting ways! For ages 4 to 94!

Placemaking, Activations, and Tactical Urbanism are all ways to make urban spaces a bit more fun and beautiful. You may have noticed all the fun and games in Britomart and the Wynyard Quarter; you might have seen some urban spaces being transformed for special events, like the Light Festival in Albert Park, and the gardens in Aotea Square over Summer. You may have noticed people simply painting in pedestrian crossings! Who makes all this happen? Placemakers, activists, artists, and fun people like you!

Drop-in, have a play and explore what might be possible in the city (even on a low budget) using pens, paper and paint, and an awesome inspirational placemaking ideation kit. You can even have a go at creating some special enhancements for the city that will be used on Placemaking Week from 12 October to the 20 October!

Note that children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
