Auckland Libraries: Show of hands

Show of hands

Thursday 20 August 12pm to 1pm Free

Portamento Piano Duo are joined by guest pianist Gemma Lee to present a programme of piano music demonstrating the power and vibrancy of many hands at the piano.

Starting the musical journey with Dvorak’s lively and dynamic "Slavonic Dances" this is contrasted with selections from Faure’s beautifully evocative "Dolly Suite, op. 56". Poulenc’s short but dynamic Sonate for piano 4 hands, op. 8. follows.

And if 4 hands at the piano isn’t enough of a show of hands, Portamento are joined by guest pianist Gemma Lee for Rachmaninoff’s gorgeous "Waltz and Romance for 6 hands".

The programme concludes with a selection from Bizet’s captivating suite "Jeux d’enfants".
