All libraries hold a selection of Pacific materials including heritage resources. The number and range of resources reflects the size of the Pacific community it serves.
A range of Pacific family history materials is held in
Research Central at the Central City Library, including a collection of microfilms of some of the registers (births, deaths and marriages) for various Pacific nations.
The research centres hold selections of reference books, periodicals, and other published materials relating to Pacific history and society, and Pacific communities in New Zealand.
Research South also collects current New Zealand based Pacific newspapers when available. Titles include New Zealand Pacific and Samoa Times.
A number of significant Pacific heritage collections are held at Central City Library. Make an appointment with a specialist librarian to access these in the Heritage Collections Reading Room by emailing
libraryresearch@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz.
