On 1 October 2025, we began the process of moving the Auckland Council Libraries website to a new platform, to improve the overall functionality of our online service.
Website changes
We are working hard to restore all functions. These improvements are a work in progress, and we appreciate your patience.
Here’s what to expect, and where to go if you need help.
What has changed?
We are working as quickly as possible to return everything to full functionality. Some services are temporarily offline, but you can access them in other ways:
Updating your details – the online form is temporarily unavailable. Use the general enquiries form, call us (09 301 0101) or update in person at any library branch.
eBook and eMagazine help – You’ll need to submit eBook and eMagazine queries via the general enquiries form or ask a staff member in person.
Some forms will not send a confirmation email to your email address automatically. Instead, you’ll see a confirmation message pop up on the webpage after you submit.
Other services with a new look
You may notice these webpages have reduced information or functionality while we work to improve them:
Library locations and hours – you can find library branch information on our website and click through to Google for opening hours, map location and service highlights.
New titles and recommended reads – you can still find fresh new titles and staff picks! These may look different for now, but we are continuing to add new recommendations for great reading.
Services no longer available
As of 1 October 2025, some services have been retired and will not return:
My Librarian / Request a recommendation
Ready-to-go reads
You can still get helpful book suggestions from knowledgeable librarians at your local library.
What is the same?
You can still access most library services as usual, including:
- Search bar – you can search the website, catalogue, blog and research resources using the search bar at the top of each webpage.
- Catalogue search – browse, borrow and renew as usual.
- Join the library – become a member by signing up online.
- Research resources – keep exploring our digital collections.
- Kura Heritage Collections Online – the digital index of heritage items will stay the same.
- Ask us to buy it – you can still request new titles for the library collection. Submit your request online or speak to staff in person at your local branch.
- Book a librarian – schedule a one-on-one session for support with research, CVs, digital skills, or other library services. Book online or in person.
- Create your PIN – you can continue to manage your PIN online as usual.
- Reset your PIN – you can continue to manage your PIN online as usual.
- Get heritage and research support – you can still submit a research enquiry and book an appointment to access heritage material at the Heritage Collections Reading Room.
- Central City Library tour requests – you can still book a Central City library tour using our website.
Need help?
If you get stuck, please contact us and we’ll point you in the right direction. Your local library staff can also help in person.
We appreciate your patience while we improve the website and are committed to making your library experience smooth and enjoyable.
