Auckland Libraries: DNA testing

DNA & the unknown biological family

Monday 6 April 1pm to 3pm Free

This DNA Discovery event follows on from Blaine Bettinger and Jonny Perl and is the last of a series of three to be held by Auckland Libraries and proudly sponsored by, The Patient Genie, Wellington Research Services and Memories in Time.

Angie Bush, Ancestry ProGenealogist
Genetic Ancestry testing has revolutionised the world of adoption, donor conception and others seeking their biological family tree. This presentation will discuss navigating the sometimes tricky waters of finding a new, close family relationship you may not have expected to find.

Due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, Angie Bush’s event will now be live-streamed Monday 6 April at 1pm in the Whare Wānanga, Level 2 Central City Library. Jonny Perl’s pre-recorded presentation will also be shown during this event.

Let us know when registering for this event, whether you will attend via a weblink or at the venue. A web link will be sent out to registered participants on Sunday 5 April.

Angie Bush
Angie Bush, MS, is the Region 1 Director for the National Genealogical Society in the US and chair of its genetic genealogy committee. She’s also a full-time genetic genealogist researcher with AncestryProGenealogists in Salt Lake City.

Angie has been interested in her genealogy since she was very young. After college, she spent several years working in biotech while continuing to hone her genealogy skills as a hobby. With the introduction of autosomal DNA testing in 2012, she decided to combine her two loves into one career. Although she spends much of her time working on recent unknown parentage cases, her favourite type of research involves breaking through decades-old “brick walls” using a combination of traditional records and genetic evidence.

She is a popular speaker and presenter, and she enjoys attending conferences where she can connect with others who share her passion for genealogy. Angie is a Utah native and lives with her husband and two descendants in Sandy, Utah.

The event is being hosted by Auckland Libraries with support from, The Patient Genie, Wellington Research Services and Memories in Time
