We have an extensive collection of Pacific resources and materials, including items in Pacific languages, resources in English about Pacific nations and bilingual material.
All community libraries have a selection of Pacific items, in various formats including DVDs, music CDs, magazines and books.
The collections support children, teens and adults in the maintenance of their first language and culture, as well as fulfilling literacy, leisure and recreational needs.
Books in Pacific languages
We have books in:
Cook Island
Māori
Fijian
Niuean
Samoan
Tokelauan
Tongan.
Books in Pacific languages move around the libraries. These are “floating” collections – the book will be kept at whichever library it gets returned to.
