Accessing PressReader

Find out how to log in with Auckland Libraries, set up the PressReader app on your device, and create your own PressReader account.

Explore newspapers and magazines on the PressReader website or in the app, where you can download unlimited issues to read offline.

Access via web browser

Use your Auckland Libraries barcode number and PIN/password to log in to PressReader. If you don’t have a library barcode, join online for free.

First time access (website)

1. Open the PressReader website in your web browser.
2. Go to Sign In (top right)
3. Under Library/Group, search for Auckland Libraries and select 
4. Enter your barcode and PIN/password
5. Check the box – I agree to allowing Pressreader to verify and exchange my registration with my public library
6. Also check Stay Signed In to save details for future sessions (see note below) 
7. Pressreader opens with Auckland Libraries access – you can now sign into your personal Pressreader account.

Access after the first sign-in

If you selected Stay signed in, the session will last for 30 days and is cookie-based. You can return to PressReader on the same device without logging in again until the session expires or you clear your web browser cookies.

Once a session ends, sign in again with your library card and PIN to regain access.

Access via the app

First, download the PressReader app for Android or Apple. 

Once you've downloaded the app, open it and follow these steps to sign in.

First time access (app)

1. Tap Sign in at bottom of screen
2. Tap Libraries & Groups icon
3. Tap Select Library or Group
4. Enter Auckland in search box and select Auckland Libraries
5. Enter barcode and PIN
6. Select Stay Signed In to save details for future sessions

Access after the first sign-in

If you selected Stay signed in, authentication is stored for up to 30 days on the same device. Once a session ends, sign in again with your library card and PIN to regain access.

Optional: Create a PressReader account

Create a PressReader account to manage your favourite publications, customise your ‘For You’ page and set up auto-downloads of the latest issues.

You can sign up with your email address or sign in with an existing account (such as Google, Facebook or Twitter). Follow the instructions below to sign up with an email address. 

Internet browser:

1. Open the PressReader website and log in with your Auckland Libraries barcode and PIN/password following step 2 above.
   
2. Select ‘Sign up’.
   
3. Enter your email address and details.
   
4. Select ‘Create my account’.

PressReader app:

1. Open the PressReader and log in with your Auckland Libraries barcode and PIN/password following step 2 above.
   
2. In the PressReader app, select ‘Sign in’.
   
3. Select ‘Email’.
   
4. Select ‘Don't have an account’.
   
5. Enter your email address and details, and select ‘Sign up’.
   

You can now sign in to your account on the PressReader website or app.
