Auckland Libraries: Membership information

Membership information

Ngā Kōrero mō te mematanga

We have a range of free memberships for Auckland residents or ratepayers. Find out how to join the library, check our fees and charges, or read the guide to using the library to get the most out of your library membership.

Want to borrow physical books, magazines and DVDs?

To extend your membership and be able to check out physical items like books, magazines and DVDs, simply visit any of our libraries and present a photo ID (Drivers Licence, Passport, 18+ card, Kiwi Access card or RealMe verified identity).

Auckland Libraries memberships are open to all ages.

Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with photo ID to extend their membership and collect a library card.

Lost library card or haven’t used the library in a while?

If you've lost your card, visit one of our libraries with photo ID and we will give you a replacement card free of charge.

If you haven’t used the library in a while and you’re not sure whether your card still works, call us on 09 377 0209 or visit your local library.
