Pacific collections

Pacific collections

A Pasifika family reading together. Auckland is home to people from many Pacific islands and is now the largest Pacific city in Australasia.

Auckland Libraries provides an extensive collection of Pacific resources and materials including bilingual materials, resources in specific Pacific languages, as well as resources in English.

All community libraries have a selection of Pacific material that can include formats such as DVDs, music CDs, magazines and books. The number and range of resources held at each library reflects the size of the Pacific community it serves.

The collections support children, teens and adults in the maintenance of their first languages and cultures, as well as fulfilling literacy, leisure and recreational needs.
