Our new online library catalogue is designed to be user-friendly, helping you search for library items, explore the library collections and manage your account in one place.

New library catalogue features


Smart searching

  • When you start typing in the search bar, you'll see a range of suggestions to explore. 
  • If you have a spelling mistake in your search, the catalogue will suggest an alternative to help you find what you’re looking for.
  • View search tips and help 

Simplified search results

  • All formats of the same title (including books, eBooks, eAudiobooks, large print and more) are bundled into one result so you can view all the options.

  • Under each item in your search results, you'll see its availability at different library locations across Tāmaki Makaurau. Click on a location to see where to find the item in the library.

Additional search filters

  • All the search filters you're used to are available in the new library catalogue, letting you filter results by location, publication date, format, age group, language and more.
  • You can also narrow your search results to physical or online items in the new catalogue, or explore what’s recently been added to the library collections. 
  • Go to refine a search help 

Suggested titles

  • Discover related resources when you look up an item in the library catalogue or explore suggestions by author, topic or genre.
  • Our expert librarians will be curating themed book lists with great reading recommendations. Keep an eye out for these lists in the new catalogue.

Your digital bookshelf

  • Your library account is found in your bookshelf in the new catalogue. Select the 'My Bookshelf' tab to view your checkouts, renew items and check your holds. 
  • Learn how to use the bookshelf and manage your account: Go to My Bookshelf help 
  • Your bookshelf is also the home of your bookmarks, reading lists, saved searches and reading history. 
  • It's easy to create your own reading lists in the bookmarks section of your bookshelf, plus you can share these lists with friends and whānau. Create a reading list help

Things to know

The previous library catalogue is available to use until 30 June 2023 while we transition to the new catalogue. Go to the previous catalogue


Your library account

  • All your current account details – including checkouts, holds, reading lists and reading history – are available in the new library catalogue under 'My Bookshelf'. Log in to the new catalogue
  • Your reading lists ('My lists') from the previous catalogue have moved to the 'Bookmarks' tab in the new catalogue. Go to Bookmarks help  
  • Please note the 'My lists' feature in the previous catalogue has been disabled from 20 April 2023.

Reviews

  • Reader reviews aren't available in the new library catalogue, and reviews written in the previous catalogue haven't been transferred.
  • If you'd like to save a copy of your reviews, go to 'My reviews' to copy and paste them or take a screenshot. Log in to the previous catalogue

Advanced search

  • Advanced search in the new library catalogue is currently under development. 
  • You can narrow your search results using the 'Refine by' menu in the new library catalogue. Go to search tips and help 

Language collections

  • You can use non-Roman characters and scripts to search for titles in our community language collections. 
  • Please be aware that some of these characters and scripts are not available when searching for authors. We’re working on improving this search option. In the meantime, you can use the transliterated (Romanised) spelling of the author’s name to explore their works.


Help

  • Help content is available in the new library catalogue, click the ? icon at the top of the catalogue to explore features or find out how to perform common tasks. Go to help resources  
  • If you need assistance with the new catalogue, feel free to ask our friendly staff at your local library.

Troubleshooting


Firefox browser issues

  • We are aware of issues accessing library account information and requesting items in the new library catalogue when using the Firefox browser.
  • If this applies to you, we recommend updating your Firefox browser to the latest version. Firefox help 
  • If the issue continues, please use the new library catalogue in a different browser, such as Google Chrome, Safari or Microsoft Edge. This is a temporary solution while we work to resolve the underlying issue. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Login error


iPad display issue

  • We are aware of an issue with how 'My Bookshelf' displays on iPads. The menu bar covers the button used to close the bookshelf. 
  • To exit the bookshelf, please try refreshing the page, opening a new tab or tapping the bookmark icon at the top of the page. We are working on fixing this issue.


Updates

We are working closely with our provider to improve the user experience and functionality of the new catalogue. Improvements are rolled out regularly, so please check this page for updates.
