Research South Te Paerangi is on level one of Manukau Library. It specialises in the history of the southern and eastern parts of Auckland, including Manukau, Papakura, East Auckland, and Franklin.

Access to the library
There is mainly paid parking on nearby streets and paid parking in the AT Parking building on Ron Wood Ave.

- Accessing newspapers and Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) using microfilm and microfiche resources

Collections and resources
Most of the collections at Research South are for in-library use, and cover an extensive range of New Zealand topics, including titles about South and East Auckland, Māori and Pacific titles, family and local history resources, New Zealand war history and social history, historical and contemporary maps and more.

Te Wāhi Rangahau Māori Collection
Research South holds a large selection of resources for researching te ao Māori, including:
- Te reo Māori resources
- Tikanga guides
- Karakia (prayers), waiata (songs) and Mōteatea (sung laments)
- Wānanga, lore, and legends
- Waka and tribal histories
- Rongoā Māori (Māori medicine)
- Toi Māori (Māori arts)
- Native flora and fauna and its significance in te ao Māori
- Māori Land Court minute books
- Waitangi Tribunal and Raupatu reports
- Māori military resources, including the New Zealand Wars and World Wars.
Family history and whakapapa
Research South offers a wide range of genealogy and whakapapa research resources including:

New Zealand and Māori Births, Deaths, and Marriages (BDM) indexes on microfiche
The Manukau Courier and other local newspapers
The New Zealand Herald from 1863 on microfilm
Auckland regional electoral rolls since 1982 and New Zealand-wide from 1995
New Zealand Gazette
Family history books, magazines, and guides
Māori Land Court Minute Books on microfilm
Access to Ancestry Library Edition, Find My Past, MyHeritage, and The Genealogist websites and other family history online databases, including international historic newspapers
