Experience an amazing series of free talks by acclaimed local authors during We Read Auckland | Ka Pānui Tātou i Tāmaki Makaurau 2025.

Reading party

Saturday 2 August, 12–2pm

Start strong as we launch We Read Auckland with a reading party in the calm surrounds of Auckland Art Gallery’s Grey Gallery and Te Ātea | North Atrium.

Settle in with a book, then stay for a kōrero with local booklovers and librarians. Bring your own read or borrow from pop-up shelves featuring Bestie picks and art-inspired titles. No need to register, just turn up and get comfy!

Author talks

Get your free tickets to a series of talks with outstanding Auckland authors, happening at libraries and community venues across Tāmaki Makaurau. Hear fascinating perspectives as they share about their latest books and the journeys that brought them to life.

You’ll also find these titles in our Bestie collection from 1 August – available to borrow from all libraries without the wait.

Writing workshops

Back by popular demand! Free writing workshops are happening across Auckland for aspiring teen and adult writers. Grow your skills in a supportive environment through creative exercises, genre exploration and friendly guidance. Perfect if you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills.
