Returning and renewing items
You can return items to any of our libraries no matter where you picked them up!
Returns
You’ll receive an email reminder three days before items are due. You can also view due dates online on your library account.
Log in to your account
- Simply put
physical items like books and magazines in the returns chute whether the library is open or closed.
Go to library locations
-
eCollection items, such as eBooks and eAudiobooks, are automatically returned on the due date. You can return most items early online, just log in to the
eCollection platform:
No late fees!
You won't be fined for returning library items after the due date unless the item is an inter-library loan. Learn more about
interloan overdue charges.
Autorenewal
Most unreturned physical items on your library account will automatically renew once on their due date unless requested by another customer. You’ll receive an email notification with the new due date when any items autorenew.
Renewals
You can renew most physical items up to
two times as long as they haven’t been requested by another customer. After an item has autorenewed, you’ll need to renew it a second time on your library account.
You can renew items over the phone, call 09 307 7795.
Please note:
- all renewal periods are the same as your original loan (28 days for books)
- some library items cannot be renewed, including magazines, DVDs and CDs
- sheet music with parts (90-day loan period) can only be renewed once
- when you renew an item on your account, the renewal period starts on the date you have chosen to renew the item, not the day after the current loan period.
Lost items
If a library item isn’t returned within 24 days of the due date, it’ll be marked as lost and a charge will be added to your library account. If you find the item and return it to the library, the replacement charge will be removed.
If you lose or damage a library item, please get in contact with us right away. Call
